The Buzz - A Practical Confidence Builder For Teenagers
If you have your own teenagers, or you work with them, you may be interested in this new book by David Hodgson.
It is by far, the best motivational resource I have come across for young people and for the practitioners who work with young people.
The Buzz is written entirely from the point of view of teenagers – it’s interactive, humorous and relevant to their interests. Like the title suggests, this is basically a confidence builder and many of the techniques used are NLP based– but they are explained in a really simple, straight forward and fun way which directly appeals to young people.
What I especially like about this book is that it puts teenagers directly in control of their own behavior, relationships and emotions, always encouraging them to take responsibility for their actions.
In the last 10 years, I have worked closely with teachers and other practitioners involved in motivating young people, and I’ve also been lucky enough to deliver some training on the techniques outlined in The Buzz. The feedback from both practitioners and young people was extremely positive.
This is an excellent aid to decision making and self development, and is also a highly effective resource for anyone looking to inspire and motivate young people. The Buzz is also available as an audiobook and even has it’s own interactive website for young people which includes personality tests and free downloads. This interactive website can be accessed from O2 phones and other internet-ready mobile phones. This feature makes thebuzzbook a cheap and accessible tool for confidence development.
You can read other reviews of The Buzz and some actual comments from practitioners and young people who have used the techniques at Crown House publishing.
