If you have your own teenagers, or you work with them, you may be interested in this new book by David Hodgson.
It is by far, the best motivational resource I have come across for young people and for the practitioners who work with young people.
The Buzz is written entirely from the point of view of teenagers – it’s interactive, humorous and relevant to their interests. Like the title suggests, this is basically a confidence builder and many of the techniques used are NLP based– but they are explained in a really simple, straight forward and fun way which directly appeals to young people.

It is estimated that up to one in four people in the UK suffers from IBS, or Irritable Bowel Syndrome at some point in their lives.
This is an alarming figure when you consider that the medical profession are not sure of the causes of the condition and do not have any agreed programme for treating it.
Although classed by the NHS as non-serious - this on the basis that it is not life-threatening - it can have an extremely damaging impact on the quality of life of those who endure it.
Not only can it be very painful and have significant physical side-effects, the sheer persistence of it can gnaw away at a person’s feeling of well-being and confidence, affecting their ability to go about their life in a normal way.
How do you start your day? Think back to this morning. What were your very first thoughts? What did you tell yourself as you heard the alarm go off?
Psychologists have found that the way we start our daily routine can actually have an amazing impact on how we experience the remainder of our day.
In fact, that very first hour we awake has been likened to the rudder of a ship, which serves to steer a course for the rest of our day, according to Dr Robert Holden (see our earlier article).
So where is your ship headed?
April is IBS awareness month and to mark this we will be featuring some items on this common complaint over the coming weeks.
IBS, or Irritable Bowel Syndrome, affects a large percentage of people and after the common cold is one of the most frequent causes of absence from work.
Across the globe the proportion of the population suffering from the complaint is estimated at between 9% and 23%, depending on location.
If you are not among this group of sufferers then you may not appreciate just how debilitating IBS can be and what an impact it can have on quality of a person’s day to day life.
